Theresa (Terry) C. Morris, 82, died Saturday, November 30, 2013 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake.
Born in West Chester, PA, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret (Torain) Jones. Her late husband, Benjamin Lee Morris died in 1987.
She was a graduate of West Chester High School in Pennsylvania. Upon graduation she matriculated at West Chester State University receiving a B.A. degree in Elementary Education. She did further studies at Temple University, receiving a Master's equivalency.
Her teaching career spanned 43 years with the Wicomico County Board of Education. She taught at the former Cedar Lane Elementary School in Fruitland, the former Salisbury Elementary School; the Hebron Elementary/Westside Intermediate School and retired from Pinehurst Elementary School as a math & reading Resource Teacher.
She was a member of the Wicomico County Retired School Personnel, Maryland State Retired School Personnel, Maryland State Teacher's Association, National Education Association; Phi Delta Kappa, Beta Tau Chapter of the National Honor Society, Cambridge Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc and Princess Anne Chapter of the LINKS, Inc.
She was a member of St. Luke U.M. Church where she was former Sunday School Superintendent, member of the United Methodist Women, former Secretary of Administrative Council and Sunday school teacher.
Her survivors include her daughter, Terri Lee Morris of Salisbury and Dawn Whittington of Hebron; eight grandchildren, one great granddaughter; two sisters and one brother: Ethel Smith, Emily (Fred) London and Joseph Jones, all of West Chester, PA and a host of nieces and nephews.
A sister, Hazel Jones preceded her in death.
A funeral service will be held noon, Friday, December 6, 2013 at Mt. Enoch Holy Church in Salisbury. Interment will be in Springhill Memory Gardens in Hebron. Friends may call St. Luke U.M. Church, Thursday evening from 6-8pm and on Friday at Mt. Enoch, one hour prior to service. Fraternal rituals will begin at 7:00 p.m.
