(Purnell) Hudson
July 2, 1913 – May 22, 2013
Victoria P. Hudson, affectionately known as "Mom Vick" departed this life on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin, MD at the age of 99. Born on July 2, 1913, she was the daughter of the late Lee and Hennie (Gray) Purnell. She was married to the late Rudolph Hudson.
Mom Vick received her education in the public schools of Worcester County. She received her Christian education at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Berlin and remained a devoted member until her passing. During her early years, she served on several committees and enjoyed the "Harvest Home" service and raising money for the church. Mom Vick is a former member of the Berlin Household of Ruth and the former Busy Bee Club. She was employed in various jobs and retired from the Town of Ocean City.
Mom Vick is survived and will be missed by her children, Vivian Smith, Shirley Beckett, Daniel (Lorraine)Hudson, Oliver (Rose) Hudson, Morgan Hudson, all of Berlin, MD and Clemmons Hudson of Salisbury, MD; 38 grandchildren, 91 great-grandchildren, 44 great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Four siblings: Elwood and James Purnell, Ella Mae Pitts and Winifred Peters; two daughters: Catherine M. Purnell and Yvonne H. Collick and a grandson: Tyrone Beckett preceded her in death.
A home going celebration will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 1, 2013 at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 405 Flower Street, Berlin, MD where friends may view Friday evening from 6-8:00 p.m. and on Saturday, one hour prior to service. The Reverend Barbara Harmon will officiate. Interment will be in St. Paul U.M. Church Cemetery.
