Obituary

Salisbury – Virginia (Ginny) Weston Glaze, 93 died Monday, March 19, 2012 in Salisbury, Maryland.

Born in Eastville, VA, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Bessie (Collins) Weston.  Her late husband, Paige L. Glaze, Sr. died December 1988.

Mrs. Glaze was a 1937 graduate of Girl's High in Philadelphia, PA.  She matriculated at the former West Chester State Teachers College, now West Chester University in Pennsylvania, graduating with a Bachelor's degree in Education.  She did further studies at the former Salisbury State Teachers College, now Salisbury University and the University of Maryland, College Park, receiving a Master's equivalency.

Her teaching career, which spanned 41 years, began at the former Salisbury Colored High School (1942), Vaux Jr. High School of Philadelphia (1944), former Salisbury High School, former Worcester High School and Stephen Decatur High School, where she retired in 1983 as a Guidance Counselor.

She was a member of Wesley Temple United Methodist where she served with the United Methodist Women and was a former Altar Guild member.

Her civic involvement included: member of Worcester and Wicomico County Retired School Personnel Association; NEA; Maryland & American Personnel and Guidance Association; AARP; VFW Auxiliary #10159, Salisbury, MD; The Companions, Inc.; Quettes; volunteer for Deer's Head Center and Junior Board of PRMC, Salisbury High School Alumni Association and Cambridge Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. where she served as a past president and was a Delta Dear, with 61 years of membership.

Her survivors include two children: Paige L. Glaze, Jr. of Pikesville, MD and Patricia (Kenneth) Gaskins of Salisbury; four grandchildren: Kendra of Greensboro, NC, Kaye of Wachapreague, VA, Kisha of Voohrees, NJ and Reggie Gaskins of Peekskill, NY; one great grandson: Elijah Gaskins; two godchildren: Renee Purnell and Tamara Hull and a host of nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, a brother, Clifford C. Weston and grandson, Kenneth M. Gaskins, II preceded her in death.

A funeral service will be held noon, Monday, March 25, 2013 at Wesley Temple United Methodist Church in Salisbury, where friends may call Sunday evening from 6-8:30pm and on Monday, one hour prior to service.  Interment will be in the Green Acres Memorial Park in Salisbury.  Fraternal rites will be held Sunday evening at 7:00 pm.
