Obituary

Wilbert Willis Wilson Jr., 72, of Salisbury, Maryland, departed this life on May 19, 2026, at his residence. Born on September 14, 1953, in Salisbury, he was the son of the late Wilbert Wilson Sr. and Thelma M. Richardson Wilson Price.

He married Tammy Elsey in 1989. They were married for 37 years.

Wilbert began his education in the Worcester County School System, later graduating with the Class of 1972 from Bennett High School in Wicomico County. After graduating from high school, he served his country in the United States Army. Returning home, he began his employment at Walter Reed Hospital. He later began his career at the Eastern Correctional Facility in 1987 and worked there until his retirement.

Wilbert enjoyed listening to music and was a dancer on the television show American Bandstand, hosted by Dick Clark. He was full of wisdom and knowledge and always had something to share on any topic. He was a wonderful husband to Tammy. They were definitely made for each other. He was also a loving stepfather to Burton. He will be dearly missed by them both.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Tammy; his stepson, Burton Ward Jr.; two sisters, Linda Harmon of Pocomoke and Ardella Holland of North Carolina; one brother, Thomas (Merilyn), also of North Carolina; two aunts, Rosa Cropper and Drucilla Copes (Ronnie) of Georgia; two uncles, Samuel Cropper (Rose) and Marvin Cropper, both of Delaware; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two sisters, Thelma and Murita.
