Willard Maxwell (Willie, Scootsie) Roberts, Jr., 82 died Friday, November 21, 2014 at Aurora Senior Living of Manokin of Princess Anne, MD.
Born in Jesterville, MD, he was the son of the late Willard, Sr. and Sarah (Wigfall) Roberts. His wife, Louise W. Roberts died August 26, 2013.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, receiving an honorable discharge in 1961.
Willie was a member of the V.F.W. Post #10159 and the LaMach Lodge #30, F&AM, P.H.A.,both of Salisbury, where he served as Past Master. He was a member of Wesley Temple United Methodist Church in Salisbury where he served as a member of the United Methodist Men, the men's choir and other committees in the church.
He was employed for over eighteen years at the former Castleberg's Jewelry Store in Salisbury. Upon his retirement, he was a director for the Maryland Food Bank. He also was a domestic engineer for over fifteen years at the VFW Post #10159 in Salisbury.
He is survived by one daughter: Sandra (Harold) Anderson of Galloway, NJ; two grandchildren:
Dione (Martin) Bivens of Duluth, GA and Harold Anderson III of Galloway, MJ; one great-granddaughter: Aniya; one sister:Dr. Bessie (William) Green of Salisbury; one sister-in-law: Ina Townsend, one brother-in-law: James (Violet) Williams; one nephew: Tyrone (Kazumi) McKiever; two nieces: Gwendolyn (Jason) Parker and Paula Tate; several great nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 1, 2014 at Wesley Temple United Methodist Church, 1322 West Road, Salisbury, MD where friends may view two hours prior to service. A private interment will be held in the Eastern Shore Veteran's Cemetery in Hurlock, MD.
Fraternal rites will be held 10:00 a.m., Monday at the church.
