Betty Ann Leak Edwards was born on August 12, 1938, in Salisbury, Maryland to the late Olvin Alec Holbrook and Mamie Viola (Elzey) Holbrook. She peacefully departed this earthly life to be with the Lord on Friday, April 3, 2020.
Betty was a graduate of the Salisbury High School class of 1957. She worked in the food industry for many years as a waitress and hostess at some of Salisbury's most famous restaurants such as Johnny & Sammy's, Christophers' and the Sheraton. Her career in commercial retail spanned over many years as a floor manager at Peebles department store and as a clerk at Lowe's.
She was an active member of First Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ in Delmar, Delaware for many years. "Miss Betty, Mom Betty, Mother Edwards," as she was affectionately called will be deeply missed by many.
She leaves to cherish and mourn her memories, two sons: James M. (Priscilla) Holbrook and Karson Leak Jr., both of Salisbury, Maryland; three brothers: Bobby (Lessie) Holbrook, Odessa Florida, Olvin Holbrook Jr., James R. (Sherri) Holbrook, all of Salisbury, Maryland; two sisters: Janet (James) Lee, Kathy (Frank) Smith, both of Salisbury, Maryland. three granddaughters: Terry Whitney of Salisbury, Maryland, Ayo (Kenny) Thomas of Concord, North Carolina and Crystal Drummond of Atlanta, Georgia; two great-granddaughters: Monye' and Nia; two great-grandsons: Cameron and Karter; one great-great-granddaughter: Riley; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended relatives and friends.
Besides her parents, her two husbands: Karson Leak Sr. and Norman Edwards Sr. preceded her in death.
A private funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2020, at Jolley Memorial Chapel, P.A., 1213 Jersey Road, Salisbury, Maryland. Interment will be in Parson's Cemetery, 211 West London Avenue, Salisbury, Maryland.
