Donna Palmer Obituary

Donna Lisa Palmer, the daughter of  Margaret (Boston) Owens and the late Lloyd Kelvin Gerald, and stepdaughter of the late James Owens, was born in Salisbury, Maryland on June 18, 1954.  She peacefully transitioned from her earthly life to life everlasting on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, MD following a lengthy illness.

Donna received her formal education in the public schools of Wicomico County.  She attended James M. Bennett Sr. High School.  She received her GED and matriculated at the former Salisbury State College, now Salisbury University.

Her Christian training was received at St. Mary’s Missionary Baptist Church in Princess Anne where she was a member and attended since she was a youth.  She was also a member of the Fruitland Family and Friends Committee.

She was formerly employed with Lower Shore Enterprises until failing health.

She was united in holy matrimony to David Palmer on September 20, 1980.  They shared a marriage of love, devotion and respect for 38 years.

“Aunt Mikki, Grammy and Mom-mom Mikki,” as she was affectionately called by family and friends, was an awesome lady.  Everyone with whom she came in contact, loved and respected her.  She possessed a loving and giving heart.  She enjoyed cookouts and especially loved celebrating her Anniversary and birthday.  If she thought no one would be able to attend, she would have a fit.  She just loved to have family and friends gather together for food and fun.  Even when she felt bad, she would press her way to have a gathering.  Mikki had a great love for family.  She kept us close together at all times.  To know her was to love her.  She was a no-nonsense person.  She did not take any mess and we all knew it.  Her body would be hurting, but she still make her way each and everyday.  She will be greatly missed by everyone.

Besides her mother and husband, she is survived by two daughters: Candice (Don) Polk of Allen, MD and Dana (Albert) Duncan; stepchildren: Marshika (William) Jones, Devel and Deanna Palmer, all of Salisbury, MD; fifteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; four sisters: Tina Boston, Faye Ortiz Waters and Sherri (Pastor Tom) Miller, all of Salisbury, MD, Andrea Tindley of Lebanon, PA, and Kim, Kerry and Dana Gerald, all of New Jersey ; several nieces, nephews, other relatives, extended family and friends.

Besides her biological father and stepfather, Donna was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents: Charles, Sr. and Malinda Gerald, maternal grandmother: Blanche Cannon Polk and uncle, Charles Gerald, Jr.
