Dorothy “Dottie” Lauretta Shelton, 74, unexpectedly departed this earthly life on February 16, 2021, while at her Snow Hill, Maryland home. She was born December 7, 1946, in Salisbury, Maryland to Randolph William Bishop and Hester Mary (Beckett) Bishop.
Dorothy graduated from Worcester High School in 1964. She later relocated to New York City, where she worked many years in the dietary department of several hospitals. After returning to Snow Hill in the mid 90’s, Dorothy continued her work in the dietary field, most recently working many years for Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital in Salisbury, Maryland.
Affectionately known as Dottie, Dot, or Miss Dot by her many family, friends, and colleagues, she was known for her caring, generous spirit and wit. Dorothy was an avid sports fan and was an active league bowler for years.
She leaves to cherish loving memories, her daughter: Tammy Bishop (LeVance Wamley); and grandson: Zion Wamley, all of Snow Hill, MD; brother: Randolph William Bishop Jr., of Flushing, New York; niece: Ivy Bishop of Snow Hill, MD; nephew: Ben Bishop Jr., of Texas; and a host of cousins, other extended relatives, and friends.
Besides her parents: Randolph William Bishop and Hester Mary (Beckett) Bishop, Dorothy is predeceased by her husband: Roy Shelton; first husband: George Curry; brothers: Ben Bishop Sr., and Joseph Bishop; and nephew: Bernard Ayres.
