Dylan Rodriguez Obituary

Dylan Mikel Rodriguez was born on July 10, 2003, in Meriden, Connecticut, to Gina (Cannon) Simmons and Carlos Rodriguez. He also had a devoted stepfather, ‘Pop’ Kermath Simmons.  On February 13, 2022, Dylan departed this earthly life to be with the Lord.

Dylan was larger than life in our hearts.  There were no strangers to Dylan.  His first love was and always will be his mother, and he also had a passion for baseball like no other.

As a gifted baseball player Dylan played at numerous schools, traveling baseball teams and competitions.  Dylan loved to swim, fish, play football and more importantly, he loved riding dirt bikes and motorcycles.  Dylan was a giver; he was kind and most of all he loved his friends and adored his family.  Dylan gave the biggest and most unforgettable hugs.

Cooking is something that runs in the family and Dylan was good at it.  His favorite food to cook was Spanish rice and chicken.  Dylan was a humorous person and loved to make people laugh.  He brought joy and laughter to any room he walked into. He was a great son, brother, grandson, uncle, nephew, and friend. Dylan was a one-of-a-kind person who was deeply loved by many. He will be greatly missed by all.

Dylan's memory is cherished by his parents: Gina Simmons & Pop Kermath Simmons, both of Delmar, DE; father: Carlos Rodriguez of Clinton, NC; four sisters: Shanika Wimber of Meriden, CT, Alisha Wimber of Delmar, DE, Lauren Simmons of Washington D.C, and Michelle Fonville of Atlanta, GA;  three brothers: Carlos Rodriguez Jr. of Miramar Beach, FL, Jamal Simmons of Bel Air, MD & Alreise Wimber of Wilmington, DE; grandmother: Brenda Cannon of Delmar, DE; three nieces:  Azuri Torres of Delmar, DE, Yalrianna Wimber of Wilmington, DE, & Gloria Simmons of Bel Air, MD; two nephews: Henry Simmons of Bel Air, MD, and Alreise Wimber Jr. of Wilmington, DE; four special and devoted aunts: Dorene (Nelson) Robles of Moncks Corner, SC, Nikki Cannon of Meriden, CT, Mary Kathy (Theodore) Peed of Exmore, VA, and Felicia Bullock of Norwich, CT; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Psalms 23

 The Lord is my shepherd;
I shall not want.
2 He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters.
3 He restores my soul;
He leads me in the paths of righteousness
For His name’s sake.

4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil;
For You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
You anoint my head with oil;
My cup runs over.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days of my life;
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord
Forever.
