Frances Smack Obituary

When peace like a river, attendeth my way, when sorrows like sea billows roll Whatever my lot, thou hast taught me to say, it is well with my soul!

Frances May Smith was born on July 3, 1928, in Maryland. She was one of eleven children to the late Hilbert “Mose” Smith and Lillie Mae (Conway) Smith. On Monday, August 15, 2022, she peacefully passed away at her home on Holy Hill in Bridgeville, Delaware. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Smack Sr. They were happily married for fifty-eight years.

Frances was a bookkeeper for many years for her husband’s businesses. She also managed rental properties owned by her husband in Bridgeville, Delaware.

She was a longstanding and faithful member of Williams Chapel, where she served more than fifty years as an usher in the Lord’s house. Frances was also one of the Mothers in the church. Mother Frances enjoyed spending time with family and visiting others to share the good news of Jesus Christ. She was loved by all as the matriarch of the Smith/Smack Family. Her love for flowers was her passion and hobby.

Mother Frances leaves to cherish her loving memory, spirit and her witty personality, four daughters: Gloria “Normae” (Beet) Gardner of Milton, Delaware, Anna “Rosie” Thomas of Bridgeville, Delaware, Christine “Crissy” (Waldon) White of Dover, Delaware, and Nadine “Deanie” (Robert) Dutton of Bridgeville, Delaware; son: Raymond “Sauce” (Allison) Smith Jr., of Bridgeville, Delaware; sisters: Caledonia “Tiny” Hammond and Erethia "Baby Sis” Smith, both of Seaford, Delaware, brother: Leon “Junior” Smith of Bridgeville, Delaware; sister-in-law: Susie Perry of Dover, Delaware, three brothers-in-law: Donald Smack of Bridgeville, Delaware, Michael Smack and Charles Worthy, both of Bridgeville, Delaware; her beloved grandchildren, which includes thirteen grandchildren, twenty-four great grandchildren, and ten great-great grandchildren; and a host of friends.

Mother Frances will be deeply missed by all you knew and loved her.
