Hilda May Reid, 77, was peacefully called to her heavenly home on February 16, 2021. Born and raised in Salisbury, Maryland, she was one of 15 children born to the late Arthur Reid and Della (Cuff) Reid.
Hilda was educated in the Wicomico County Public Schools. She retired from the State of Maryland “Holly Center.”
Hilda was a long-time member of St. James Free Methodist Church in Head of Creek, Quantico, Maryland, under the leadership of her brother, Rev. Louis Reid.
She was affectingly called Mom, Grandmom, Grammy and Six by her loving family and close friends.
Hilda will be lovingly remembered by two daughters: Pamela Reid McGill of Wilmington, DE and Tracye King of Atlanta, GA; two nephews, whom she raised as her sons: Reginald Reid of Ohio, and Christopher Stevenson of Salisbury, MD; six grandchildren: Ernest, Morgan, Taylor, Kayla and Bailee McGill, all of Wilmington, DE, and Lexye Adams of Atlanta GA; three great-grandsons: Trenton, Tristan, and Miles McGill, all of Wilmington, DE; two brothers: Dr. Orlie (Liz) Reid Sr of Annapolis MD, Rev. Louis (Doris) Reid of Salisbury, MD; two sisters: Della (Franklin) Horsey and Diane Reid Custis, all of Salisbury, MD; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other extended relatives and friends.
Being the visionary she was, Hilda Reid had forethought over 20 years ago to donate her body to science. She pre-arranged to have her body transported to Howard University College of Medicine.
A memorial service will be held a later date to be announced in the paper.
