Janet Smith Obituary

Janet Lee Smith, affectionately known as, “Cookie,” age 63, from Salisbury, Maryland, passed away on Friday, July 29th in her home.

Janet was born on December 6, 1959, in Westover, Maryland, to Helen Jackson & Louis Allen. She graduated in 1977 from Wicomico High School. After getting married she moved around as a military wife and lived in Michigan, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and Goldsboro, North Carolina, where she worked as a bank teller and in mortgage loans in the local bank. Several years later, she moved back to her home state of Maryland, where she worked as a customer service representative at Delmarva Power for over 20 years.

She was a member of the St. James United Methodist church choir several years ago, until she moved back to Salisbury.

In her spare time, she enjoyed spending quality time with her family, and watching some of her favorite reality television shows. She also enjoyed doing puzzles and playing Candy Crush on her phone.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Helen Jackson, and father, Louis Allen, her aunt, Alice White and uncles, Thomas Collins & Elwood Collins.

She left behind her husband Billy Smith of Salisbury, her children Temia Ja’net Parker (Terrence) & Aaron Michael Smith (Kaitlyn) of Salisbury, three grandchildren, Gabrielle Janea Artis, Autumn Jade Parker, Khari Patrick Smith, and Brittney Parker, two sisters, Lolita Long of Salisbury, Maryland, and Valerie Allen of the Bronx, New York, and her sister and brothers in law, Carmen Smith, Michael Smith, Mark Smith, all of Salisbury, Maryland, Pierre Smith, of Wilmington, Delaware. She also left behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and several friends. She is deeply loved & she will be greatly missed!
