Margaret E. Mitchell, 81, of Salisbury, Maryland passed away on July 1, 2022, in Atlanta Georgia, a few days shy of her eighty-second birthday.
Margaret was born on July 12, 1940, to Stanley and Marion Stanford of Fruitland, Maryland. In 1958 she graduated from Salisbury High School, where she met and later married James A. Mitchell of Mardela Springs, Maryland. Margaret and James went on to have two sons, James Jr., and Marvin.
After more than twenty years of service as an administrator, Margaret retired from Wicomico Senior High and spent her time as a matron of the Eastern Star Wicomico County Chapter, offering her vocal talents to the choir at Wesley Temple United Methodist Church, traveling with friends, and watching her grandchildren grew into young adulthood.
Margaret was predeceased by her husband James Sr., brothers Phillip and Howard Stanford, and sister Lottie Jones. She is survived by sons James Jr., Marvin, grandchildren Steven (Montgomery, AL), Saundra (Montgomery, AL), Ryan (Atlanta, GA), Brett (Philadelphia, PA), and Maria Mitchell (Atlanta, GA), as well as great-grandchildren Isaiah Mitchell, Jeremiah Gantt, Elijah Thompson, and Faye Thompson.
