Mary Fields Obituary

MARY'S JOURNEY

Mary Beatrice (Carr) Fields, also known as Mary B, or Aunt BB quietly departed this earthly life to be with the Lord, at her home on Thursday, July 8, 2021. Born in Somerset County on April 9, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Leon Henry Carr Sr., and Theresa Marquerite Roberts Carr.

She was educated in the public schools of Somerset County and graduated from Greenwood High School in 1952. She received her formal education at Bowie State College. After she graduated, she was employed as a first-grade teacher in the Laurel School District in Laurel, Delaware. She retired after 32 years of devoted service to the school system in 1991.

On August 20, 1960, she was united in holy matrimony to Robert Fields. The couple spent many years together until his death. They were married for 55 years.

At an early age, she accepted Christ and was baptized at Metropolitan United Methodist Church in Princess Anne, Maryland. Mary loved attending services with her family. After leaving Metropolitan, she became a member of Friendship United Methodist Church-Allen, in Eden, Maryland. Over the years, Mary served as an Usher, Administrative Council Secretary; member and secretary of Friendship Community Choir; Mother of the Gospel Choir and member of Delmarva Usher Association. In addition, she served as a tutor with the Youth Enrichment Team at the Allen Community Center. Mary was a faithful member of Friendship and attended regularly until her health began to decline.

Mary B was a wise and generous woman who loved her family. She believed in family time and required the family to sit down and eat together every day. She was fun loving and loved to talk about her relationships with her siblings. She loved working crossword puzzles, singing, watching game shows, attending bible study, attending Christian concerts and plays, going RV camping, wearing hats, and getting her hair styled every two weeks. She loved traveling and going on drives with her family on Sunday afternoons. In addition, Mary B loved going shopping for fashion and heels with her granddaughter. She believed a well-dressed woman's outfit should include high heels, earrings, and a little bit of makeup.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her devoted granddaughter and caregiver: Chavonda Carr of Allen, Maryland; daughter: Corliss Carr of Higginsville, Missouri; one sister-in-law: Anne Carr; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and a special caregiver/sitter.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Robert Fields; sisters: Sedonia Plummer, Constance Flanagan, Jane Lake, Lois Jones, Esther Overton and one brother: Leon Carr Jr.

Lovingly Submitted by the Family

Psalms 23 (KJV)

 1. The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
