Mary Frances (Brown) Winder

Mary Frances Winder, 79, departed this earthly life on Saturday, April 4, 2020, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, Md. Mary was born on September 25, 1940, she was the daughter of the late John and Frances Brown. Mary was educated in the Wicomico County public school system at the former Sharptown Colored Elementary School and the former Salisbury High school.

Mary loved to serve her church and community and she did so by being a lifetime active member of Zion United Methodist Church in San Domingo, where she served as a Communion Steward, a member of the Usher Board and  Finance Committee, she also served as the president of the United Methodist Women and sang on the Adult Choir. Her civic involvement included membership with the Order of the Eastern Star, former Friendship Chapter #57, currently, Naomi Chapter #16 as a 50 plus year member. She was the former president of the Sharptown Columbia American Legion Auxiliary Unit 269, where she remained an honorary member. Mary worked at the Marvel Package Company in Hebron, MD, the Delmar Shirt and Pants Factory of Delmar, MD, and retired from Dove Point in Salisbury, MD.

Mary leaves to cherish her in loving memories a brother, Reese Brown of Philadelphia, PA; a sister Jean E. Brown of San Domingo, MD; a daughter-in-law, Teresa Winder of Edgewood, MD; three granddaughters; a devoted cousin: Myrtle Winder of Seaford, DE, and a host of nieces, nephews, extended relatives, and friends.

Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Lee Winder Sr.; two stepsons, Thomas Lee Winder Jr. and Milton Darnell Winder; three brothers, James Waters, Henry Anderson, and Richard Brown; two sisters, Cecilia Graham and Barbara J. Goslee.
