Shawn Taylor Obituary

Shawn Lee Taylor, affectionately known as, "Buff," age 49, of Snow Hill, Maryland peacefully transitioned to his heavenly home on Wednesday, April 8, 2020.

Born on October 5, 1970, in Salisbury, Maryland, at the former Peninsula General Hospital, now, Peninsula Regional Medical Center, he was the son of Bernadine Taylor Waters of Snow Hill, Maryland, and the late Norman Taylor.

He was educated in the public schools of Worcester County, graduating from Snow Hill High School on June 3, 1988.  Shawn worked various jobs, ranging from a cook to a power washer and car detailer. However, his most recent and favorite job was being self-employed as the owner-operator of Touched by Angels Company, where he was a contracted auto parts deliverer for various car dealerships.

Shawn relocated to Glen Burnie, Maryland, but he remained active in his hometown of Snow Hill, supporting many charitable events, and helping others wherever needed.  He loved coaching sports, and mentoring children in the community.  Shawn was a member of Coolspring United Methodist Church in Girdletree, Maryland, and also attended Free Indeed Ministries in Snow Hill, Maryland.

Shawn was a “big guy” with an even “bigger heart.” He loved spending time with his grandson, family, and friends. He also enjoyed traveling, attending Washington Wizards basketball games, and watching live sporting events with his wife. Shawn loved cars, clothes, tennis shoes, and jewelry.

He is survived by his wife of sixteen years: Aleetta Shockley-Taylor of Pasadena, Maryland; a daughter: Taylor Milbourne of Delmar, Delaware; two godchildren: Mariah Mills of Pasadena, Maryland, and Zyon Shockley of Snow Hill, Maryland; a grandson: Chase Stevens of Delmar, Delaware; two sisters: Leslie Copes Lankford of Hampton, Virginia and Sharnetta Taylor of Salisbury, Maryland; mother-in-law: Marsheila Shockley of Salisbury, Maryland; grandmother-in-law: Elder Edith Shockley of Snow Hill, Maryland; a sister-in-law: Dawn Shockley (Eric) Day; three nieces: Whitney Lankford of Hampton, Virginia, Amirah Shockley of Pasadena, Maryland, Jaiden Shockley Day of Pasadena, Maryland; two nephews: Shamar Lockwood and Orlando Dennis, Jr., both of Snow Hill, Maryland; a god-mother Ernestine Mills of Snow Hill, Maryland; 4 god-sisters; and a host of aunts, uncles, in-laws, cousins, extended relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his daughter: Nyshae Taylor, father: Norman Taylor, grandfather: Leroy Collick, grandmother: Francis Collick, grandfather-in-law: Robert Shockley, Sr.; and a god-brother: Tony Mills
