Spencer McKinley Rawl, age 52, was born August 13, 1969, in Paterson, New Jersey, to William Moody and Ernestine Rawl-Blue. He peacefully departed this earthly life on March 12, 2022, at Tidalhealth Peninsula Regional Hospital in Salisbury, Maryland.
Spencer attended Elementary School No. 6 in Patterson, New Jersey and Crisfield High School in Crisfield, Maryland, where he joined the ROTC program in his senior year of high school. After graduating, he began his career in the National Guard Army Reserves. Spencer served his country for twenty-two years. He furthered his education by attending a business school in Salisbury, Maryland, receiving an Associates Degree in Accounting, where he worked for a brief period of time. Subsequently, he became a supervisor at Fines Men's Warehouse in the Center of Salisbury Mall for many years. During this time, Spencer took college courses at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore in Princess Anne, Maryland. After leaving his position at Fines Men’s Warehouse, Spencer became employed at Shura Inc. for several years until his passing.
During his lifetime, Spencer was a father to eight children: Azanigue Rawl of Austin, TX, Sa’Tique Bloodsworth of Salisbury, MD, Kordell Kelley-Rawl, Kiara Kelley, and Kristan Kelley, all of Fruitland, MD, Aniyah Rawl and Xavier Rawl, both of Richmond, VA, and Arman Williams of Baltimore, MD.
In 1994, Spencer met Jenelle Brown with whom he spent twenty-eight years until his demise. He was a people person, making friends everywhere he went. He loved helping others, whether he knew them for years, days, or just a few hours. He loved being Santa at Christmas time, making sure many children woke up Christmas morning with presents under the tree. Spencer also loved reading all kinds of books, talking about God and the Bible.
Spencer loved God, his children, family and friends. He will always be loved by those he leaves to mourn his memory, mother: Ernestine Rawl-Blue; father: William Moody; children: Azanigue Rawl of Austin, TX, Sa’Tique Bloodsworth of Salisbury, MD, Kordell Kelley-Rawl, Klara Kelley, and Kristian Kelley, all of Fruitland, MD, Aniyah Rawl and Xavier Rawl, both of Richmond, VA, and Armen Williams of Baltimore, MD; siblings: Josephine Wilson, Temetha Handy, La’Tinyua Rawl, Monique Moody, Howard Wilson; a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, family and friends.
Spencer is preceded in death by his grandmothers: Isabella Adamson and Francis Moody, grandfathers: George Evans Rawl and Percy Moody; nephew: Marcus Collins and other extended relatives.
