Steven's Journey

Steven Lee Springston Sr, also known as Steve, of Baltimore Maryland, peacefully went home to Heaven on December 10, 2021 at the Tidalhealth Peninsula Regional Hospital at the age of 58 years old.

Steven Lee Springston was born in Baltimore, Maryland to Dale and Bertha Springston. He attended Andover High School and was well-known and loved by all who came in contact with him. He was vibrant and passionate about life. He always wanted others to feel good around him, and never hesitated to lend a helping hand. His loyalty to his friendships were innate to his character. Especially his friendship to Kevin Grimes, who has been by his side since they were born, and maintained their bond until his death.

When he was still a young man he met and married  Malane Shenton. The couple had Steven Lee Springston Jr. from their union.

Steve did not hesitate to be the man his father taught him to be and step-up as a man to his family. He immediately took on his role and got a stable job at Diageo formerly known as Seagrams. He was a hard-worker for more than 30 years at Diageo and was recognized for his ambition through his promotions and title as the Union Vice President. He was always an advocate for his fellow man and wanted all people to feel they were equally treated no matter who they were or where they came from.

Steve loved sports especially the Baltimore Ravens. He was enthusiastic about coaching and was the coach of his son’s football team. Later, he coached his grandson, Joshua Johnson’s baseball and football team. Steve was beloved by the kids on the team and extended his love on and off the field to the children and their families. Coaching was one of  his cherished legacies.

Steve lived for the simple pleasures and being outdoors. Fishing and hunting were pastimes he shared with his son, grandson, Kevin and Ryan regularly. We all knew the boat or the quiet woods to be his “happy place”.

Steven is survived by his two children: Steven Springston and Ayla Johnson; and grandchildren: Joshua, Nathan Abrielle Najee Micah and Elijah, along with his loving family Brenda Biller, Brady McCoy, Jimmy Biller Jr “Jimbo”,Melissa Biller, Skyla Biller, Shaela Biller,  Dani Biller, Mason Biller, Hailey Smith,  Hunter Smith, Dale Springston, Shane Springston, Christina Owens, formerly Christina Sirk, Bella Owens, Robert Owens, Billy Kyle, Thomas Sirk; and his dearest longest friend: Kevin Grimes and his wife, Dee and children, Ryan and Rachel; and a host of other beloved extended family and friends.

Steve will be deeply missed by those who loved him!

A Psalm of David.

23. The Lord is my shepherd;
I shall not [a]want.
2 He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters.
3 He restores my soul;
He leads me in the paths of righteousness
For His name’s sake.

4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil;
For You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
You anoint my head with oil;
My cup runs over.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days of my life;
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord
Forever.
