Valorous (Joe) Marshall, 83 died Saturday, February 29, 2020, at his Berlin, MD home. Born here, he was the son of the late Raymond and Axie (Foreman) Marshall.
He was a 1954 graduate of the former Worcester High School. He was a lifelong member of Calvary UM Church in Berlin where he served on the Usher Board, Trustee Board, Finance Committee, United Methodist Men, Men’s Choir and former Calvary Cavaliers. He was also a member of the former Tristate Men’s Choir.
Joe was formerly employed with Frost Trucking Company, Showell Poultry, Adkins Company where he retired after 25 years and Town of Ocean City, where he retired in 2000 after 15 years.
He was an active member of Lincoln Lodge #53, F&AM, P.H.A. and the former Household of Ruth, G.U.O.O.F. #1639, both of Berlin.
His survivors include his wife: Mollie Marshall of Berlin; two children: William and Barbara Marshall, both of Berlin; four step-children: Carol (Ivan) Morris and Dolores Foreman, all of Glen Burnie, MD, Orlando (Joyce) Whaley of Onley, MD, and Kathy Whaley of Salisbury, MD; two grandchildren: Lareka and Katrina Marshall; several step-grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; a special nephew: Raymond Bowen, a special friend: James Purnell and other nieces, nephews and cousins.
A sister Edith Hudson preceded him in death.
A funeral service will be held 12 noon, Friday, March 6, 2020, at New Bethel UM Church in Berlin where friends may view two hours prior to service. Interment will be in Calvary UM Church Cemetery in Berlin.
