Virginia Burkes Barrett 96, of Eden, Maryland entered eternal rest on Friday, May 13, 2022, due to health complications. She was surrounded by her loving family.

She was preceded in death by her husband first husband, Lonnie J. Burkes, second husband, Leonard Barrett; sisters: Else Dennard and Rosalee Brown; brothers: James, Yule, Leroy, Louis, and Bobby Kirkland.

She leaves a legacy and fond memories to her son, Lonnie F. Burkes, Sr., and daughter, Bernice Johnson-Burkes, grandchildren: Lonnie, Todd, Marcus, Rochelle, and Courtney, 15 great-grandchildren; siblings: Margaret Saunders, Odessa McNealy, and Ozella Battle; 45 nieces and nephews.

Her memories will forever be in our hearts.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 24, 2022, 11:00am with a one hour viewing prior to the service, at New Life Seventh Day Adventist Church, Salisbury, Maryland. Interment will follow at Springhill Memory Gardens, Hebron, Maryland.

PSALMS 34: 1-9 (KJV)

I will bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.

2 My soul shall make her boast in the Lord: the humble shall hear thereof and be glad.

3 O magnify the Lord with me and let us exalt his name together.

4 I sought the Lord, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.

5 They looked unto him and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed.

6 This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles.

7 The angel of the Lord encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.

8 O taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.

9 O fear the Lord, ye his saints: for there is no want to them that fear him.
