Weltonia Engram-Wright Obituary

The Life Of A Passionate Woman

Weltonia Annette Engram-Wright, 61, (Toni/Baby Doll) of Princess Anne, Maryland, departed this life on Sunday, August 22, 2021, at Tidal Health Peninsula Regional in Salisbury, Maryland.  She was the daughter of the late Samuel Carroll Sr. and Margaret Holmes.

Toni was born on September 12, 1959, in Chance, Maryland. She grew up in Elizabeth, New Jersey, where she was educated in the Essex County School System. She graduated from Battin High School. After high school, Toni became a licensed cosmetologist and that began her journey on becoming the Diva we all know and loved. Over the years she used her many talents in various professions. However, her true passion of teaching became her career once she started working for the Somerset County Board of Education as a substitute teacher and then an Instructional Assistant. She was a teacher to hundreds, a mentor to many and a mother to all. She took great pride in making an impact on her students.

Toni was a great woman of faith and a true servant of God. Anywhere she went she would give an encouraging word to anyone even when she needed an encouraging word herself. She was the true definition of selfless.

Toni will be remembered for her kindness, her genuine personality, uplifting spirit, beauty inside as well as outside, her jokes, her stories, her powerful testimony, and her true love for all.

A lifetime of memories will be cherished by daughters: Tory Engram and Jazzmin Sutton (Anthony), both of Durham, NC, and Deziree Wright (Marquise Daniels) of Baltimore, MD, Shavonda Wright of Denton, TX; her son: Ja’mari Wright of Princess Anne, MD and sister: Miriam Brown of Princess Anne, MD; two brothers: Samuel Carroll Jr. and Andre Venable Sr., both of Baltimore, MD; aunts: Constance Holmes of Rahway, NJ, Arlene Deshields of Salisbury, MD, Tyree Padgett of Charlotte, NC and Myrtle Brown of Baltimore, MD; uncles: Levi Holmes of Durham, NC, Lawrence Holmes of Willingboro, NJ and Sherwood Holmes of Chance, MD; nieces: Erika Smith and Brianna Bivens of Princess Anne, MD, and Shaneka Venable of Baltimore, MD; nephews: Anthony Davis Jr., Andre Venable Jr., Anthony Venable of Baltimore, MD, Shemar Anderson, Rodney Bailey Jr., Rayvon Kersey, and Jamison Williams of Princess Anne, MD; grandchildren: Malik Morris, Myles Morris, Anthony Sutton Jr., Mariyah Morris, and Adonis Sutton of Durham, NC, Desiree Morris-Byrd, Melvin Morris Jr., Mikayla Morris, Maiya Morris and Madison Morris, all Salisbury, MD; two godchildren: Chaunice Shipman of Elizabeth, NJ and Marcus Hamilton of Salisbury, MD; The Jay-Z to her Beyonce, Jan Jones of Princess Anne, MD and, because they were “Crazy in Love”; a host of  great friends, special cousins, other extended relatives, in-laws, neighbors, children she loved on, and so so many friends who were more like family.
