William Wilson Sr. Obituary

William Joseph Wilson Sr., 80, peacefully departed this earthly life on Sunday, October 11, 2020, at his home in Salisbury, Maryland, where he resided for the past four years. Born on December 17, 1939, in Blacksburg, South Carolina, he was the son of the late Joe Vernon Wilson Sr. and Princess (Mitchell) Wilson.

William was raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where he received his former education. After graduating high school, William moved to Salisbury, Maryland, where he worked at the former Peninsula General Hospital, now TidalHealth Peninsula Regional Medical Center. He later worked at Campbell Soup Company until he retired. William also was a lifeguard and swimming coach at North lake Park.

As a sports enthusiast, William enjoyed playing golf, fishing, swimming, roller skating, and bicycling. He was huge Pittsburgh Steelers fan and wore his team with pride. He was also a member of the Queen City Lodge #1051, in Salisbury, Maryland. William was a kindhearted, compassionate man who loved life and his family. He will be missed by those who loved him.

William leaves to mourn his loving memories, one son: Minister William J. Wilson Jr. of Washington, DC; three daughters: Shelia (Dwayne) Hitch of New Castle, Delaware, Angela Downing of Denton, Texas, and Lillian (James) Kenney of Brooklyn Park, Maryland; five grandchildren: James Smith of Salisbury, Maryland, Edwin Deshields Jr. of Baltimore, Maryland, Todd Wilson Jr. of Georgetown, Delaware, Neshon Downing of Salisbury, Maryland, Zhane Hitch of New Castle, Delaware, and nine great grandchildren; three sisters-in-law: Dr. Geri Mason and Rita Chandler, both of Salisbury, Maryland, and Karen Chandler Carden of Newport, Virginia; an uncle: Yeacha Lee Mitchell of Salisbury, Maryland, and a host of relatives and friends.

Besides his parents: Joe Vernon Wilson and Princess (Mitchell) Wilson; his son: Todd Wilson Sr., grandson: Tyler Wilson, and brother: Joe Vernon Wilson Jr., all preceded him in death.
