Salisbury – Emily C. Ward, (Mom Ward), 77 died Monday, December 12, 2016 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury.
Born in McClellanville, S. C., she was the daughter of the late Rebecca Campbell and Harry Manigualt. Her late husband Frank Ward, Jr. died in 1997.
She was a graduate of Lincoln High School in South Santee, SC. Upon graduation, she relocated and made her home in Brooklyn, NY until 1974. She attended a business school in New York, receiving certification in office management.
She was a former member of Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church in Brooklyn and transferred her membership to United Faith Church of Deliverance in Salisbury. She served as a former choir member, Missionary, Sunday school teacher, Vacation Bible School teacher and mentor of the former Young Girl’s with a Purpose.
She was also an NAACP Supporter and foster grandparent for Shore-Up, INC in Salisbury.
Her survivors include two daughters: Targee (Craig) Ballard of Laurel, MD and Onicka Ward of Salisbury; one step-son: Frank (Angelique) Ward, III of Pocomoke, MD; seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; fourteen siblings; three nieces: Monica (Jo-Jo) Dorman, who she reared as a daughter, Lisa Smith and Elizabeth Kabeer; one nephew: Peter Campbell; her best friend: Darlene Justice and numerous godchildren.
Two siblings: Herman George Campbell and Anna Lee Jones preceded her in death.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 am, Saturday, December 17, 2016 at Mills Memorial Baptist Temple in Salisbury where friends may view Friday from 6-8 pm and again on Saturday, one hour prior to service. Interment will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, December 19, 2016 at Springhill Memory Gardens in Hebron.
