Quantico – Joyce Priscilla Burrell, 75 died Friday, January 12, 2018 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, MD.
Born in Wetipquin, she was the daughter of the late James and Pearline (Taylor) Mitchell. Her late husband Warren Burrell, Sr. died December 1963.
She was a 1960 graduate of the former Salisbury High School. Upon graduation she attended a local business school.
She was formerly employed with several companies. In her latter years, she worked as a housekeeper.
She was a member of Friendship U.M. Church in Wetipquin, where she was president of the United Methodist Women (UMW), served on the Salisbury District of U.M.W., former church treasurer and past Charge Church Administrator. She was also a member of the Star Light Gospel Singers, Wings of Faith and Voices United. She served on the Executive Board of the Wetipquin Community Center, member of the Westside Ministries and Salisbury University N.A.B.B. Center, just to name a few.
Her survivors include five children: Sylvester (Marcella) Mitchell; Rebecca (Reuben) Brinson; Warren (Shirlon) Burrell, Jr.; Christopher and Calvin (Deborah) Burrell; sixteen grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren; four brothers: Jerome (Josephine), Ronnie, David and Bryant (Helen) Mitchell; three aunts, two uncles and a host of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm, Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Friendship United Methodist Church in Wetipquin where friends may view two hours prior to service. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
