Orville C. Jackson, Sr.

Salisbury – Orville C. Jackson, Sr., 85 died Monday, October 17, 2016 at PRMC in Salisbury, MD.

 Born in Vienna, MD, he was the son of the late Fred D. and Bessie Morris Jackson.

 He was a graduate of the former St. Clair High School in Cambridge.  Upon graduation, he matriculated at Livingstone College in NC and Morgan State University in Baltimore.

 In 1952 he was drafted in the US Army and served during the Korean War, receiving an honorable discharge.

 He attended a dry cleaning school in North Carolina.  He was the owner and operator of the former Valet Cleaners in Salisbury for 41 years, retiring in 1998.

 Mr. Jackson was a member of Wesley Temple United Methodist Church in Salisbury where he was instrumental in the construction of the new sanctuary.  He was also finance chairman and member of the United Methodist Men.

 His survivors include his wife of 54 years, Marjorie Jackson, a daughter, Lori Jackson, both of Salisbury; three sons: Jay Jackson of Arlington, VA, Gary McNair of Costa Mesa, CA and Walter McNair of Cambridge, MD; grandchildren; two siblings: Catherine Waller of Mardela, MD and Harold (Vivian) Jackson of Vienna, MD; one sister-in-law: Vivian Jackson of Salisbury, MD and a host of nieces and nephews.

 A funeral service will be held 11:00 am, Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at Wesley Temple United Methodist Church in Salisbury where friends may view one hour prior to service.  Interment will be in the Eastern Shore Veteran’s Cemetery in Hurlock.
